Hello I’m Scott from WarmlyYours. Today I’d like to talk to you about electric floor heating. Electric floor heating installation is a very simple process, but there are few things you want to keep in mind to keep your installation trouble-free.

One of the main things that we need to get across to everybody is that when you’re installing the rolls, never ever cut the wire that’s in the mesh. This electric floor heating system actually consists of three wires. There is a wire that runs from the end of the mat, there’s a wire that runs to the beginning of the mat, and then there is a wire that’s actually embedded and sewn into the mat. The wires at both ends of the mat can be cut when they’re put in to the wall and wires to your thermostat.

These are what we call pole leads and these can be cut when they’re put in to wall and wired to your thermostat. These are what we wall pole leads and these can be cut. The wire in the mess can never ever be cut. If you shorten the mess that’s fine, but you cannot cut the wire that’s in the mesh. One thing if you want to make sure you have a trouble-free installation, the one thing you always have to remember is never cut the wire in the mesh.

There’s a couple of things I’d like to go over with you today. First of all, if you have a chance to get an installation plan please do so because it lets you put the system in in the optimal position. We do all the thinking for you. We will show you where it goes. All you have to do is cut the panels to the correct length, and put them down on the floor, and your installation will be very, very simple. If you are installing the system into a bathroom or into a kitchen, please let us know if there are any permanent fixtures that are going to be on the floor like toilets, air vents, preexisting air vents, anything that would be like an island or anything like that in the kitchen because you should never put electric floor heating under permanent fixtures, so please let us know that also.

When you get the mat out of the box, always always test it with an ohms meter because that way you can verify that the mat has got the matching ohms resistance value that it should from the factory. Very very important when you get your mat always test it with an ohms meter. While you’re installing the mat, it’s always good to use a circuit check. The circuit check you attach to the wires of the pole lead. This will tell you if you make any mistakes with the wire: if you nick it, if you cut it, if you bend it too tightly or something like that. This will sound off an alarm and will let you know that what you’re doing right then you should stop and inspect your work to verify that you haven’t damaged anything.
